Top Free Finance Apps for Android

Dec 6, 2012   //   by Daniel Morris   //   Technology  //  1 Comment

In September, we brought you our top 3 finance apps for the iPhone and iPad. At the beginning of this week, we had a thought in the Which4U office; ‘What about Android users?’

Google’s Android operating system has proved rather popular over the last couple of years, over-taking Apple’s iOS system for global market share leader – currently at 44% and 31% respectively – with this popularity set to continue with the introduction of the Sony Experia E, an affordable smartphone running Android 4.1 (otherwise known as Jelly Bean) and a number of Android devices running on the 4G network.

So without further ado, here is our list of the top finance apps for Android:

1. Paypal

Understandably, Paypal is the highest-rated finance app in the Google Play store, with more than 100 million active users across the globe. A quick and secure way to transfer money, whether it’s for making purchases or just sending money to someone for that bill they footed last week, you can’t really beat Paypal.

  • Requires Android 2.2+
  • Free
  • Version 4.1.0

2. Lloyds TSB Mobile Banking

The first of our banking society applications to grace the list, Lloyds TSB’s mobile banking app allows the user to locate the nearest ATM or Lloyds TSB branch to them – useful for when you’re out and about and need some cash – as well as  being able to perform all of their online banking tasks; from viewing statements to transferring money.

  • Requires Android 2.1+
  • Free
  • Version 1.3.0
  • Get more information & download here

3. NatWest

The second banking application on our list, this time from NatWest. Much like the Lloyds TSB application, this allows you to carry out all of your day-to-day banking needs; including paying bills and topping up your pay-as-you-go mobile phone.

  • Requires Android 2.1+
  • Free
  • Version 2.1.29.01
  • Get more information & download here

This list is based on the ratings that the users have given for each of the applications, giving you a good idea of which ones perform well and which ones don’t.
